Catalyst processing
Analysis, age, residual value, consistency and the mechanical or thermal stress on the material due to the input product decide on the further processing of the spent catalyst material.
For reutilisation in the reactor, the catalyst material is externally regenerated. In this process, the coke and hydrocarbon deposits are burnt off the material and screened out. The customer has two alternatives:
"Turnaround regeneration"
Here, the catalyst is externally regenerated during the cshutdown and is returned "just-in-time" to be reloaded.
"Double change catalyst charge"
This procedure entails for the customer the creation of a store, in which regenerated catalyst can be stored for use and spent catalyst can await regeneration.
In the case of catalysts with valuable metal fractions (e.g. platinum) it is possible, within the framework of reutilisation, to recover the precious metals.
Whether transport is between store, magazine and plant or between plant and regenerator, all catalyst material is securely packed in UN-approved drums or containers (2 m3 special containers).
