Reactor emptying
First of all, the spent catalysts have to be removed from the catalytic reactors. According to reactor type, two different procedures may be used:
Firstly, the spent catalyst can be removed from the reactor by using emptying devices on the reactor. The other possibility is to suck the spent catalyst mass gently through the reactor head, using high performance vacuum units including N2 cooling and recirculation.
Naturally, all dismantling work on the reactor internals required for the emptying is correctly carried out.
The unregenerated catalyst mass is packed into UN-approved containers and held for further processing.
